Gaah! I sure do have a LOT of bulbs to plant!
Sunday is supposed to be sunny and 6°... should I put it off 'till then?
Or sneak out this afternoon during everybody's (hopefully) naptime?
But if I stay in, I could make supper... I could finish up tonight's sourdough bread that is calling to me.
Which makes me worry: what if my recent bread obsession isn't an obsession but a NEW HOBBY?
I don't want to give up the garden! I love the garden!
But I tend to get swept up in the excitement of new hobbies once I pick one up, and abandon everything else - especially previous hobbies.
On the other hand, this does happen to be just about the worst time of year for the garden, with tearing everything out and putting it away. Plus, my energy is sapped from Yom Tov and sickness. Plus, it's been so bloody cold and yucky outside. (the last few days being the exception)
So maybe I'm just disenchanted with this year's garden, not with gardens in general.
It's like when I used to listen to Dr. Laura and she'd pick up one hobby after another, obsession about it for six months or a year, and then all of a sudden, one day, she'd be going on about her new new hobby. Yachting, biking, dogs, karate... yiddishkeit.
It was perhaps the one thing I found unsettling about her show. Not that the show was about her or her personal life, and I am happy enough to separate public from private persona, and all that, but I found those glimpses of her life troubling, unsettling, from a person who coached others on settling down and good old fashioned stick-to-itiveness.
And also because I fear I'm like that.
Is there anything so wrong with sampling many offerings from the buffet of life? Not exactly, but I don't like the idea of leaving things behind that you were so in love with, so recently.
